It's almost time for the real work to begin. I have a lot of the layout completed but I am making 4 new mecha pieces for the book and that's going to take a bit of time. One of the mechs will be made with a supporter who pledged $500 to the project. His reward is to be my art director on a robot and he gets the original art. We have been e-mailing and so far he has good ideas. I think it's going to be a cool mech!
Why did I do this? My original plan was to make a 64 page book, with only 16 pages in color and the rest in black and white. The additional funding from this project has allowed me to make the whole book color and ADD 32 MORE PAGES! That's 96 pages of full-color mecha cool-ness. I will probably also add an embossed feature to the cover. I was thinking of adding a spot varnish but sometimes that can get scratched up too easily so I'm on the fence about it.
