This is my illustration for the Hoplite Battlemech from the Battletech book "Historical: Operation Klondike". You can buy the book from your local game store or order it online. It's a great book and I highly recommend it!

This is one of my favorite pieces from the book. I think it really captures a certain mood... if "lumbering" is a mood ;)

This image is at 72 dpi... my original file was created at 600 dpi.

This is the second of 8. I'll post them weekly.

Here's the original design form its first appearance [link]
And here's a newer version that I worked from [link]

this image just makes me think of one term and one term alone "Rape train got no breaks".

Very well rendered, making the machine look massively threatening, even if it is because its just going to barrel into your puny Shadow Cat and trample on over it.

Almost looks like a little brother to the King Crab. Which I personally think needs to be redesigned.

Although Brent Evans illustration in the TRO3050 Upgrade finally made the Hoplite look good (for a Hoplite;)) this is the first time that this Mech looks really cool and even badass.
I'd never use an ugly mech so this is the first Hoplite ever I would like to ride.
One of the best eye-candy-things in the HTP Operation Klondike book...besides the Shogun and Imp.
